When I’m not nerding out on creative solutions or learning wood working techniques, I’m trying to get into the mountains. Backpacking, snowboarding, or just making camp nachos. Currently wrapping up a dream—the design and coordination of every square inch of our new home in Denver!
Regarding my formal background, the most surprising this is how applicable it all turned out to be. Behavioral economics instilled an understanding of how people make decisions. Architecture honed a rigorous design process. Success in both fields inspired me to strive for impact. Luckily I fell straight into UX—it's a hybrid of what I love about econ and architecture, with greater potential to improve lives!
After 10+ years of designing digital products, here's what I believe:
the most elegant solutions arc toward simplicity;
effective design requires an encouraging culture;
and, throughout the whole enchilada, empathy is essential.
